“Ashrunchi Zali Phule” is set to be staged in America. It is one of the most popular Marathi drama (natak) written by Vasant Kanetkar & revived by Subodh Bhave. The team is all set to take off for the US tour. Subodh Bhave shared this via on his Twitter handel. He informed that the tour will begin from March 2020 and end on April 2020.
The classic play was brought to stage in May this year. Subodh Bhave playing the lead role of “Lalya” in the play which was originally played by First Marathi Superstar Kashinath Ghanekar. Subodh Bhave starrer “Ani.. Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar” was an All Time Blockbuster last year. The same energy is in acted in the drama. It’s a must watch drama if you’re currently in USA. In 1966, Vasant Kanetkar received a Filmfare Award for Best Story for the Hindi movie “Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool” , which was an adaptation of “Ashroonchi Zhali Phule”. After the release of “Ani.. Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar” (2018). The younger audience came to know how popular this play was in 60s & 70s with Kashinath Ghanekar and what popularity it bought to character of Lalya. Hence, the drama was revived in May 2019.
